Betty White: Why do we love thee? Let Me Count the Ways…

1 Mar

There has been a lot of talk the last few weeks surrounding the groundswell of people on Facebook pushing for former ‘golden girl’ Betty White to host Saturday Night Live on NBC.

Most of the articles I have read were in favor of Betty hosting SNL, but this morning I came a cross an article that doubted her abilities because she is 88-years-young.  I was going to post a long rant mentioning the other article and spend time disproving the writer’s claims one-by-one, but I instead chose not to even link to the other article or waste my energy focusing on someone that closed-minded.  I opted to instead write a post highlighting this wonderfully talented comedic actress who many Americans have loved for decades.

Why does America love Betty White?  Here it is, my ‘Top Ten Reasons We Love Betty White’ video countdown:

10. Let’s begin with a video appropriately titled, “Why we love Betty White!”

 9.  Expecting a flood and your pants are too long?  Betty can fix that.

 8.  Betty doesn’t mind if you’re a creep…as long as you have a pool.

 7.  Any of you guys out there have a hot date and need help with your make-up?  Yep, Betty can help with that too.

 6.  Betty coined the term “Suck It” long before fellow funny lady Chelsea Handler.

 5. She has a switch blade.  “And she’ll cut you with it,” at least that’s what Sandra Bullock told me.

 4.  Are you lonely, in search of a date?  Given the greenlight Betty will broadcast your number to all those watching national television.  (Guaranteed to work or your money back.)

 3.  Can your grandmother do this or should I say would your grandmother do this?  Skeet, Skeet Betty…You go girl!

 2.  When she wins awards she’s very gracious.  Graciousness emits not only from the bottom of her heart, but also the bottom of her bottom.

 1. And most importantly…She’s Betty White B***h!

I love this video montage to Betty White. I recently saw her on Chelsea Lately and loved her young and fresh attitude about all issues. She has definitely not let herself age along with the rest of her generation. I think that everyone could learn something from her. That age is just a number and that you need not accept the norm or stereotype for your age, race, income level, or any other limits that you might have pushing against you. Some people let these things get them down or fence them in but with looking at how Betty White is you cannot help but break away from the norm and accomplish anything you want.

OH I love Betty White! How can anyone not? I honestly didn’t even know she was 88 (and I love that you put “88-years-young”). I use to watch Golden Girls all the time, and even lately I’ve seen her on talk shows, commercials (especially the new hilarious Snickers commercial), and reality shows (she was on Kathy Griffin’s show). She always seems so “with it” for an older woman. She seems very sharp and fresh and still full of life! It is so funny how people go from being “aww so cute” and a little kid, to adults, and once they get older they are “awww so cute” again. I realized this the other night when I was watching Buzz Aldrin on Dancing with the Stars. He is the CUTEST old man! I just wanna give him a hug! I would never say that about a 30-something Buzz Aldrin, but once they get to 70’s and 80’s they just get so cute.
Enough with my rant…hope you’re doing well!

This is awesome! Seriously, Betty White is fabulous, so is her Publicist! Betty White is funny & still classic! She is so sweet that anything she says whether it’s dirty or not you just can’t help but laugh! I really admire her spirit and her passion! I think in today’s world it’s people like Betty White that should be admired and respected and her publicist does a wonderful job of giving betty white that charm as well! It seems wonderful that she is an older woman and she has become more famous with age, THAT is something to be admired! I really think that many people can learn a lot from someone like Betty White!

This is a fabulous PR Connection. I, along with the rest of America, love Betty White, and the reasons she is such a lovable woman are illustrated in the video montage above. She has to have an amazing publicist or she is the most loved woman in Hollywood. I think part of her popularity comes from her sharp comments and wit, and she is one of the few Hollywood stars who has aged somewhat gracefully. She has such a passion for her craft which is obvious to those watching her, I think she makes her own PR easier, because she is so universally liked.

I didn’t know that Betty White was chosen to host Saturday Night Live. I’m not an avid watcher of the show, but I do catch it every once in a while. I loved that you did a top 10 video countdown. What a great way to prove your points than to show actual videos of her. What a cute idea! Also, I can’t believe someone would actually doubt her because of her age. Obviously she has done so much already and so many other people believe in her, that is not going to stop her. 8o is the 60… right? haha.
